Red Cliffs Lookout…

Rising straight up and towering over the banks of the Werribee River, the Red Cliffs in Werribee South are simply beautiful to look at and a must see if you are in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. The cliffs have a stunning backdrop of fruit and vege farms that you can only see from a height.

K Rd Cliffs Lookout is adjacent to an egg farm which you get a REALLY good whiff of if there is a bit of a breeze, wow. Be prepared for that and if your nose isnt too sensitive, thats the worst thing about the place.

Parking is available along the fence line, it can get busy, but you can find a spot if you look around the area. If you want to explore near the river, there are a few little walkways with stairs part way down. You'll have to semi trek your way via foot worn tracks. Theyre fine if it hasn't been raining. This is a very popular spot for fishing.

There is a little awkward to get to area where you can view the swallow mud nests. You walk down the main stairway and turn right just before the river. Keep walking along the dirt track and you'll come to a very narrow area which you will need to navigate carefully. The nests are to the right, you'll see the swallows coming and going which is a good visual guide.

I would advise good boots/shoes as it can be muddy there. Not recommended for those with an unsteady gait or mobility restrictions.
